As part of your ongoing business marketing it would be silly not to include the use of video. As the second largest search engine happens to be a video hosting and sharing site, if you are ever wondering why create a YouTube Channel? Then your answer would be to ensure you are in with a chance of grabbing some of that YouTube search traffic.

But I’m Camera Shy and can’t make a Video
You must have seen the Vloggers all over the Internet and their rise to Internet, YouTube ‘Fame’ – I think Vloggers are great, highly entertaining, really talented and very confident individuals – I couldn’t do it! Without putting myself down, I’m not photogenic, so I’m not that great to look at and my video would end up with a lot of hums and pauses. I think to be a successful Vlogger takes a certain type of person and sadly that’s not me.
There is hope though, so don’t despair. For anyone who is camera shy there are other options. You can make Slideshow Videos using images and text slides with accompanying Creative Commons music. These types of video can also incorporate screenshot images of your website.
You can make ‘How to’ videos; recordings of yourself working on a website related problem and showing the viewer how you solve it. Software such as Screenflow allows you to record your screen while you are working on your computer. You can record your own voice as a voice-over or use text to explain what you are doing.
There are video-making software programs you can create an account with and make high quality videos using ready-made templates and designs. Some are free but include a small logo from the software company. You can upgrade though and have your own branding instead if this is what you’d prefer.
Here are some of the video making programs I like:
TechSmith own a collection of great video editing tools. Snagit – Screen Capture & So Much More. Camtasia Studio – Screen Recording & Video Editing. Screencast.com – Video & Content Hosting.
Animaker is a cloud based video making app, which helps to create animated explainer videos, video Infographics and animated presentations like never before. There is a free version which is great.

I love youtube but never seem to get the time to do it as you have to make sure you look good as well. Not like just getting out of bed and getting on the computer LOL, great post.
Haha Helen 🙂 but do remember that there are other ways of making videos and not just recording yourself.

I think I should look into Youtube. I’m what you call screen-shy but now I see how we can make text slides that looks really cool. I recently saw one with only black and white and a good voice over but it’s really clear, informative and not boring. It’s time to get rid of the mindset that Youtube is not for me.
Youtube IS for you Kenny 🙂

Just the thought of making a YouTube video can be intimidating and I have actually wondered when I would “dare” to produce one but you are right in that there are many ways to produce a video without having to sit in front of the camera but rather show and tell showing your computer screen. I definitely will look into the Animator. I have used Camtasia for work and it works very nicely with many features. Great information.
Glad you found the article useful Carmen. Do let me know how you get along with Animator I’d love to hear your findings.

Oh my gosh!
Actually I wanted to make Youtube videos since 6-7 years ago but I think I’m camera shy. I always tell myself that I’m too fat for people to like me or that I don’t know English so well and sometimes I’m afraid they will make fun of me. I still hope to make a Youtube video until the New Years eve. Thank you for your article, it motivates me to try.
Wish you the best,
Andrei.
You are welcome Andrei, I do hope you find the courage you need. Just begin, you might even find that you really enjoy making videos.
